The Rehearsal Dinner

Photobucket

Hello, readers!! I'm Kelli (yup, that's me down there with my hands full!) and I'm here to tell you about the rehearsal dinner!

Some of my favorite moments from the weekend came from the dinner since it was so intimate. It was all about family and it was amazing to see these two families coming together. These folks really seem like they've been family their entire lives.

The dinner was held at the Lyndon House art center downtown. It was absolutely gorgeous out and the heat finally decided to let up around supper time.

What I loved most about both the wedding and the rehearsal dinner was the fact that the new Mrs. B used all local vendors. At the rehearsal, we had beer from Athens' own local craft brewery, Terrapin. The food was from one of the happy couple's favorite Athens restaurants, DePalma's (Westside, y'all!). This kind of stuff is important to me if you know me or have read my blog. So, since I get to take the reigns here for the day, I'm going to talk about what I like to talk about most......food!

There were three entrees served and sadly, I only photographed one of them (I was too busy eating!). BUT, I will say that it was my favorite at least.

The salad was mixed greens with pineapples, scallops, shrimp, and feta cheese. The dress was a citrus-jalapeno vinaigrette. It was phenomenal. I could have been happy with just that.

The main courses were Pasta Margherita (rigatoni with sauteed tomato, basil, red onion, white wine, and fresh mozzarella) & an Italian Sausage Lasagna. YUM! The folks at DePalma's did such an amazing job!!

There were many toasts made by friends and family, but the toast made by the Father of the Bride is the one that brought the house down. Not a dry eye in the crowd. I'm going to let Mrs. B tell y'all about that.

Thanks for reading and check out Local Okra for recipes and all around eating philosphy!

P.S. I want to thank Natalie for being such a great Maid of Honor and just getting things done. Kraig (her fiancee) also worked his tail off on the day of the wedding and they both deserve a pat on the back. Good job, y'all!
